A good match

I played a decent amount of Push against an equally ranked player. We both came into the game pretty much at the same rank. Me at 7366, him at 7311. After I won the first game, he proved to me that he deserved his rating as much as I did. He proceeded to win several of the next few games before I started to figure out a way to win. In total we played 20 games, the final score: 12-8 him. He had well over 2000 wins in Push mode, so we both knew what we were doing and how to counter each other's moves, even the usual stalemate strageties.

My rating did take a hit, going to 7320, while he left somewhere round 7359. Several of my losses were do to a misdrop on my part that I couldn't return from. Our shortest match was one that I won and he must have misdropped, but in the first 5-10 seconds, we had no holes and a decent number of blocks in the field. We also had several long games that kept going back and forth, until one of us made our major mistake.

I was delightfully suprised that I didn't have any network errors during play, as that would have really hurt my rating. I am very glad that the other guy felt like playing so many rounds against me, it's not often that I find people who are willing to play 20 rounds. Then again, most people are a lot lower rating than I am...

After our 20 rounds, he left, but I wasn't upset about it. In fact I was a little relieved because I was starting to feel the effects of "no sleep yet" and that was starting to have it's own effect on my gameplay. I played a few games against other people, all ranked much below me. So my rating is back up to 7339. Not that great yes, but it's fewer points I have to win back later.

While today didn't help my win ratio much, it did show me a good time. I'd probably take 20 fun matches over 80% win any time.

I wonder if it's sad that I'm trying to get, and then keep, 80% win ratio in Push mode...
